In a joint venture between NHS Forth Valley, Stirling Council and the Scottish Ambulance Service, Stirling Care Village delivers a wide range of health and social services the elderly. The services include, short-term care, assessment and rehabilitation, as well and support for patients with dementia, palliative or end-of-life care.
CP Electronics were brought into this project, and spent nine months ensuring workers, visitors and patients of this new facility had their needs met.
Balancing the wellbeing of patients and the needs of staff way key to this project. Any lighting installation had to be dementia-friendly, making it imperative for all parties involved to understand the specific requirements of the new facilities. Together with the help of FES Limited, the lighting control systems installed at Stirling Health and Care Village succeeded by creating a comfortable and practical environment for all who use it.
Public and Hospitality
For a lighting control solution that makes good use of natural daylight, CP Electronics advised the use of its Vitesse Modular system. Meanwhile in the bedrooms, the Bellfield Centre’s 116 en-suite bedrooms are controlled by our 7-channel Vitesse Plus lighting control system which is ideal for controlling energy costs without affecting user convenience.
For the bedroom corridors, CP’s RAPID system was fitted out, which were able to make use of 81 Passive Infrared Sensors (PIRs), enabling lighting to dim by 50% if no movement was detected for 15 minutes.
At the hospitals own request, each bedroom and en-suite were fitted with absence detectors, that could also be controlled manually by a switch, this allowed patients to retain control of their own lighting preferences.
Following the buildings building’ completion, Scott Baxter, Project Engineer at FES Limited commended CP’s level of support throughout the projects lifetime. He stated: “It was the first time FES had worked with CP and we have a very good experience. The company provided lots of support when we needed it and did a lot of work on site with a design consultant to ensure we followed the recommendations made by the University’s research.
“Even at the commissioning stage, CP sent an engineer to programme everything and ensured the systems were all working as expected.”
