The old Bradford Council offices were to be transformed into the new building for Bronte Girls’ Academy, a ‘free school’ which now completed is available to pupils from the ages of 11 to 16. CP Electronics was brought into this development, working closely alongside G&H Building Services.
Feversham Education Trust, who manage the academy, required a lighting control solution that would provide efficiency as well as control automation. With the different and varied areas within and outside the academy needing specific lighting control to be installed, CP’s wide range of expertise was called upon.
Classroom lighting controls
In the academy’s classrooms, CP Electronics’ daylight dimming presence detectors, will help save more energy with increased efficiency by automatically dimming those lights closest to the windows when enough natural daylight is detected. Connected with these daylight dimming detectors is the Vitesse Plus 7 channel system. This also offers graduated dimming functionality with simple connectivity and wiring.
Corridors, toilets and offices
The academy’s corridors also benefited from the installation of CP’s long-range microwave detectors. These output 100% only when movement is detected and will dim down when none is detected. Similarly, lighting has been set to switch on if presence is detected in the bathrooms and toilets and switch off once none is detected. Meanwhile, paired with DALI LED lighting, the offices were also installed with dimming technology. Because of its unique modular design, the Vitesse Modular system was used, giving Bronte Girls’ Academy increased flexibility with their lighting set up, and when needed enabling them to change it.
Sports hall and communal areas
Finally, within the sports hall and dining areas of the academy, scene setting plates were installed, set up and programmed to provide 5 different lighting settings, depending on the activity taking place, allowing the lighting to be brightened or dimmed.
With our partnership alongside G&H Building Services, this project has turned this old council building into one of the most modern and energy efficient schools throughout the country.
The Project Manager for G&H, Paul Blunt, said of working with CP “Thanks to their huge range of lighting controls, technical support and knowledge of lighting, once again, they have delivered with Bronte Girls’ Academy, enabling us to meet the needs of the school and minimising energy usage.”
