Project: Bluebell Park

Building: Bluebell Park Apartments, built in Huyton, offer 122 one/two bedroom apartments specially designed to cater for the health and care needs for those over the age of 50. 

Brief: 50 per cent of lights need to be controlled by presence and motion detectors that help to minimise any unnecessary energy consumption and cost incurred. The lighting system also needs to link with the building’s fire alarm system.

Solution: CP Electronics was able to demonstrate real value through the implementation of its patented An-10 wireless lighting control system. Integrating conveniently with the complex’s internal clock and fire systems, the An-10 provided a simple yet highly effective and safe solution for the building owners and residents alike.

Landmark Liverpool residential scheme benefits from innovative lighting controls. 

When CP Electronics, a leader in the design and manufacture of energy saving lighting controls, was approached by Quartz Electrical to come up with an easy to install solution to meet a particular specification for a new housing project in Liverpool, it identified a golden opportunity. 

Not only was the Bluebell Park project backed by an England football legend, Steven Gerrard, who grew up locally, it also offered CP a platform to demonstrate the value of its energy-saving lighting control solutions. In addition to creating a safe and comfortable environment for residents, the project also had the potential to deliver a highly energy-efficient solution.

Completed in Spring 2015, the Bluebell Park Apartments were built in response to a report that highlighted the glaring inadequacies around the provision of suitable housing for some of the most vulnerable people within our society.  

The new complex in Huyton offers 122 one- and two-bedroom apartments specially designed to cater for the health and care needs for those over the age of 50. 

CP Electronics was able to demonstrate real value through the implementation of its patented An-10 wireless lighting control system. Integrating conveniently with the complex’s internal clock and fire systems, the An-10 provided a simple yet highly effective and safe solution for the building owners and residents alike. 

By programming the lights using the D-mate lighting system, such that they were operational only during daytime hours, before shifting on to a night-time pattern whereby 50 per cent of lights were controlled by presence and motion detectors provided by CP, this helped to minimise any unnecessary energy consumption and cost incurred. 

Equally as important, however, was the safety component of the solution; by linking with the building’s fire alarm system, this caused all corridor lighting to be instantly activated in the event of an alarm. The true value of the solution, therefore, lay in its flexibility – by providing an easier wiring option, the An-10 wireless lighting control system was able to communicate effectively with time and fire prevention technology to ensure the specification criteria were fully satisfied. Lighting was programmed so that it was operational only during daytime hours, before shifting on to a night-time pattern whereby 50 per cent of lights were controlled by presence detectors provided by CP. In turn, this helped to minimise any unnecessary energy consumption and cost incurred.  

Using CP Electronics’ D-Mate lighting control system, scene setting functionality is also available in the bistro.
